Updated Guide On How To Get An NBI Clearance 2021

Do you need an NBI clearance but not sure how to go about the process because of the ever-changing quarantine protocols?

I checked the latest updates right on the NBI website and I am sharing my research here today. Take note that like a lot of other government agencies and offices, the NBI now requires that we create an appointment first before heading to their office to get our clearance.

Read on.

REMINDERS BEFORE STARTING YOUR NBI CLEARANCE ONLINE APPOINTMENT:

  • First-time applicants
  • Renewal of NBI clearance
  • Renewal but previous NBI clearance has correction/error/changes in any field, even if a single letter is to be corrected, needs to register online again.

The above-mentioned types of applicants must present any TWO VALID GOVERNMENT-ISSUED IDs such as:

  • UMID
  • Passport
  • Driver’s License
  • PSA Birth Certificate (original copy)

Non-government-issued IDs such as company IDs and Barangay Clearance are not accepted as valid IDs in processing NBI clearance. Additionally, a Barangay Certificate is required for first-time job seekers availing the free service under RA 11261.

Step 1: Go to https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph to register.

Step 2: If you are applying for a new NBI clearance (not renewal) , choose “No” to answer the question Do you have an old NBI clearance issued from 2014 to present?

Step 3: Fill-out the registration form, making sure that all entries are spelled correctly. Do not use special characters because the NBI system does not accept special characters (such as hyphens, asterisks, etc.)

NBI follows a one email = one user policy. If you have already used an email address for an account, you can no longer use the same email address to create another account.

Click on “Sign Up” after confirming your acceptance of the Terms of Services.

Step 4: You will be sent a one-time password (OTP) to your registered mobile phone number. Enter the OTP on the pop-up screen and click the Submit button.

Step 5: You now have an account with the NBI! Log in to your account using the email address you registered and the password you assigned.

Step 6: Complete the applicant information form with all your details, making sure that all fields with the red asterisk are not left blank.

Step 7: Click on Save Information. You will be shown your accomplished applicant information page so you can check that all your entries are accurate.

Step 8: Click on Apply for Clearance. In case you need to edit any entry in the previous page, just click Edit Information.

Step 9: Detail the IDs you will be bringing on your visit to the NBI. Make sure that these are valid (not expired). Click on “I agree” when done.

Step 10: Choose your preferred NBI branch where you wish to get your clearance.

There is an option to change the branch where you can have your clearance facilitated, even after you have confirmed or already made a payment for your appointment. You may call the branch where you originally scheduled your visit and request them to transfer your records to the new NBI branch of your choice. If you do not do this, the new NBI branch will not have a record of your appointment and you will not be accommodated.

Step 11: Create your appointment schedule.

Unlike the NBI branch that can be changed even after paying for your appointment, you cannot change the date and time of your visit. So please make sure of the appointment you will be making before finalizing your application.

Step 12: Pay for your appointment.

You can pay at any of the following:

  • Over-the-counter at BDO, Metrobank, Chinabank, Landbank, RCBC, Eastwest Bank, Union Bank, Security Bank, PNB
  • Online bank transfer such as BDO Internet Banking, BPI Express Online, Unionbank EON, etc. (you can check this in your bank’s app).
  • Bayad Center Outlets
  • Bayad Center Mobile
  • ECPay
  • 7-Eleven
  • Visa/Mastercard
  • GCash

You will be provided payment instructions on the page, no matter which payment option you choose. Click on “Proceed” to move to the next step.

Step 13: Pay for your appointment and monitor your email for the payment confirmation and other reminders.

Step 14: Print your application form. If this cannot be done, write down your reference number on a piece of paper or take a screenshot of it using your mobile phone. Show this to the personnel on duty on the day of your appointment.

You are now ready to proceed to the NBI branch of your choice for the processing of your clearance!

Come back tomorrow for the instructions on collecting your biometrics at the NBI branch and how to claim your clearance after.

Thank you for dropping by! Stay safe and healthy!
