The pandemic changed the way we travel, whether within the Philippines or abroad. We no longer just hop on a plane and fly away to our destinations and then come back all tanned and tired, straight to our homes. Things are so very, very different now. They say that boarding your plane now feels like you’re checking in to an ICU because flight attendants are all covered in PPEs instead of their flight uniforms. And coming home no longer literally “feels” like coming home because you need to be isolated for a couple of weeks to make sure you are not infected by the virus, before you are allowed to join your family at home.
If you or a loved one is coming home to the Philippines soon, you need to know the documentary requirements and procedures involved upon arrival in the Philippines. So today, I am sharing Philippine Airline’s (PAL) guidelines to passengers arriving in the Philippines.

To know what documents you need to present and the process you need to undergo before you are allowed entry to the Philippines, identify what type of traveler you are from the list below:
| PASSENGER TYPE | DOCUMENTARY & OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Must be presented upon booking, check-in, and to the Immigration Officer upon arrival in the Philippines) |
| Filipino nationals | 1. Philippine passport 2. Proof of citizenship (a copy of your PSA birth certificate is the best document you can present for this – MC) 3. Pre-booked quarantine hotel accredited by Tourism and Health Agencies for at least 10 days (unless fully vaccinated, whether in the Philippines or abroad, and are coming from a “Green” country, then must only hold a 7-night booking; upon check-in, travelers must present proof of their vaccination.) 4. RT-PCR test on the 7th day of arrival/quarantine (at traveler’s expense, except for OFWs, which shall be shouldered by OWWA/LMAs). | Non-Filipino/Foreign Spouse and children or children with special needs of a Filipino national | If traveling with Filipino national: – Foreign passport only, no visa needed (You may enter the Philippines visa-free if you are a national of a country listed under EO 408. Check the list here –– Countries whose nationals can enter the Philippines without a visa.) – Any of the following: For spouses: authentic marriage certificate For children (regardless of age): authentic birth certificate. – Must meet the additional conditions of the IATF-EID. If not traveling with Filipino national, Filipino national is currently residing in the Philippines at the intended date of travel: – Foreign Passport with Philippine valid entry visa or long-term visa. – Any of the following: For spouses: authentic marriage certificate For minor children only (below 18 years old) and children with special needs (regardless of age): authentic birth certificate – Must meet the additional conditions of the IATF-EID. |
| Non-Filipino/Foreign Parent of a minor Filipino child (below 18 years old) or a child with special needs (regardless of age) | – Foreign Passport with Philippine valid entry visa or long-term visa. – Authentic birth certificate of the minor Filipino child or child with special needs. – Must meet the additional conditions of the IATF-EID. |
| Former Filipinos (Balikbayan Program) Dual Citizens | – Foreign Passport and actual valid, old, or expired Philippine passport or – Foreign passport and any of the following documents: — Authentic Birth Certificate — Identification Certificate — Certificate of Reacquisition/Retention/Recognition – Must meet the additional conditions of the IATF-EID. |
| Spouse/Children of Former Filipino Nationals (Balikbayan Program) | If traveling with Filipino national: – Foreign Passport only, no visa needed – Any of the following: — For spouses: authentic marriage certificate — For children (regardless of age): authentic birth certificate. – Must meet the additional conditions of the IATF-EID.
