In case you haven’t noticed, you cannot order for another person’s PSA certificates when ordering at PSAHelpline.ph. You can only request documents under your name (or your child’s, if you are a parent and is limited to birth certificates only).
A Certificate of Death contains details about a person’s passing. This document is as important as a Certificate of Live Birth, Marriage, and No Marriage. The only difference is that it belongs to someone who no longer has control over the people who will access and read the contents of the document. And for that reason, I think PSAHelpline.ph chose to restrict the acquisition of this important certificate from online ordering.
A Certificate of Death is commonly requested for benefit and property claims, inheritances, and court proceedings. The data contained in this document continues to work for people who may be involved in transactions left by the deceased. If this document falls on the wrong hands, it may be used against the deceased family, relatives, and friends.
If you need a copy of a Certificate of Death, you may request for it at the nearest PSA office or Serbilis outlet where you will have to appear in person and show proofs of your identification. You may also be asked to state your purpose for requesting the document, even if you are the deceased next of kin.
