Requirements for the SSS Annual Confirmation of Pensioners Program (ACOP)

10-27

Are you currently receiving pension from the Social Security System (SSS), as a retiree or a beneficiary?  Have you recently undergone your Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP)?  Did you know that the ACOP schedule has been changed from contingency month to the birth month of the SSS member?

To ensure continuous release of your monthly SSS pension, you need to undergo the ACOP program every year.  Here is the list of procedure and documents needed when reporting at the SSS for ACOP; take note too of the defined exemptions, depending on the pensioner’s physical condition.

A. DISABILITY PENSIONERS

How to Comply:

The pensioner has to report to any SSS branch, EXCEPT if the pensioner is 80 years old and above.  In such cases, the pensioner only needs to accomplish the ACOP form and attach required documents.  These documents should then be submitted to the nearest SSS branch through a representative or email to member_relations@sss.gov.ph.

Required Documents (depending on the pensioner’s age and physical condition):

If the Pensioner can report personally:

  1. Accomplished and signed ACOP form.
  2. SS card or two valid IDs, both with signature and at least one with photo.

If the Pensioner is incapacitated or 80 years old and above and resides in the Philippines:

  1. Accomplished and signed ACOP form.
  2. Photocopy of SS card or two valid IDs, both with signature and at least one with photo.
  3. Sketch of residence.

If the Pensioner is confined in an institution:

  1. Accomplished and signed ACOP form.
  2. Photocopy of SS card or two valid IDs, both with signature and at least one with photo.
  3. Certification from applicable institution confirming Pensioner’s confinement.

If the Pensioner resides abroad:

  1. Accomplished and signed ACOP form.
  2. Photocopies of SS card, valid passport, or any two valid IDs issued by the host country government unit/agency where photo and signature are shown.
  3. Complete physical examination report done within 3 months prior to the last day of compliance and certified by a physician indicating his license number and clinic address.
  4. Laboratory or other diagnostic examination results applicable to disability.

B. RETIREMENT AND DEATH PENSIONERS

How to Comply:

If the pensioner receives his pension thru a bank, he or she has to report to the designated bank; if pension is received thru checks or a guardian, the pensioner needs to report to any SSS branch.

  4. Certificate of existence from the Barangay Chairman.
  5. Medical Certificate done within three months prior to the last day of compliance and certified by a physician indicating his license number and clinic address.

If the Pensioner is confined in an institution:

  1. Accomplished and signed ACOP form.
  2. Photocopy of SS card or two valid IDs, both with signature and at least one with photo.
  3. Certificate from applicable institution confirming pensioner’s confinement.

If the Pensioner resides abroad:

  1. Accomplished and signed ACOP form.
  2. Photocopies of SS card, valid passport or any two valid IDs issued by the host country governmental unit / agency where photo and signature are shown.

  8. My wife and I were separated more than 30yrs ago. Now she is married to an american and now residing in USA. Can I transfer my beneficiary to my niece who is the one taking Care of me now?

    1. Hi Vicente,

If you are referring to benefits from government agencies such as GSIS, SSS, or Pagibig, please be advised that these agencies only recognize the legal spouse as the beneficiary, and the children as secondary beneficiaries. If you wish to remove your wife as a beneficiary, you should be able to present proof that your marriage has been dissolved by law already (annulment, divorce papers, etc.) This shall be subject to the agency’s approval.

For benefits from private institutions, such as insurances and other grants, you may coordinate with the insuring companies and request for a modification in your chosen beneficiaries. Most are lenient and allow other relatives and even non-relatives to be listed as beneficiaries.

    1. Hi Sir Ranulfo,

Kailangan po sa designated bank kayo mag ACOP. But you can ask the bank branch kung pwedeng sa mas malapit na branch po kayo magpapa ACOP.

Last Jan 25 i supposed to apply for my retirement at sss Tagbilaran City, Bohol. I was told to come on March first week which is about more than one month when result of request for correction on lump contribution is received by the said. sss agency.. My question is? even we are now in the age of high tech communications, would that require mre than a month to do so or get reply from Central Office of Sss?so i can proceed with filing my pension at the earliest time possible? Thank you for your reply..best regards

    1. Hi Mr Abalos,

The SSS may require an extended period of time to verify the details of your SSS account and make sure that all are in place. You may refer to the Citizen Charter of SSS just to be sure that the turn-around-time they are requesting from you are within the timelines they published.

    1. Una hindi ako taga SSS blogger lang ho ako. Pangalawa pareho kasing Government office yun kaya pwede silang mag integrate ng record. Maganda ang suggestion mo subukan nating mapa abot ito sa kanila

  14. my mother is not an sss member but she gets her pension which arose from the death of my father who was an sss member. if my mother dies, will she be entitled to a death benefit?
