Updating SSS Information

How does an existing SSS member update his or her SSS records whenever there are changes in his personal information?

It is important to advise the SSS of any changes in your personal information, such as change in civil status, change in name, etc.  Delaying the application of the necessary updates may put your claims and benefits at risk.

Here are some reasons why SSS members seek assistance in changing their SSS records and the necessary documentary requirements they need to bring, based on the reason for updating:

a. Change in Civil Status (from Single to Married)

b. Change of Civil Status (from Married to Single)

  • If member was widowed, bring a copy of the deceased spouse’s PSA Death Certificate.
  • If member had an annulment, bring Certificate of Finality of Annulment or Decree of Divorce.

c. New / additional / change of dependents or beneficiaries

For the item on dependents and beneficiaries, below is a list of the primary beneficiaries as approved by SSS:

  • Legitimate dependent spouse until he or she remarries;
  • Dependent legitimate, legitimated, or legally adopted, and illegitimate children below 21 years old.
  • If the member is single and does not have children, the dependent parents shall be listed as secondary beneficiaries.
  • Should the member not have primary and secondary beneficiaries, he or she may designate any person as his or her beneficiary.
