Here’s something to watch for.
The House of Representatives is moving towards the passage of a “kasambahay bill,” which seeks to provide them more benefits and accord household helpers better labor conditions.
Democratic Independent Workers’ Association party-list Rep. Emmeline Y. Aglipay said the House committee on labor and employment chaired by Northern Samar Rep. Emil Ong is flexing its muscles to endorse the bill for the plenary voting.
The author of the House Bill 1815 or the Magna Carta of Household Helpers expressed hope that the bill will be included in priority list of the chamber as the Congress resumes session on November 14. The bill seeks to benefit domestic workers numbering to about 600,000 to 2.5 million.
